Multilink Vehicle Passes are for Isle of Wight residents and homeowners only

Multilink Vehicle Passes are designed to save you money if you travel regularly to the mainland using your car, van or motorcycle.

You can bulk purchase from 10 to 60 single crossings for as little as £33.50 per sailing. When you purchase a 20, 40 or 60-ticket Vehicle Pass, you’ll get access to exclusive discount codes to share with your loved ones living on the mainland.

We also offer a separate Accessible Multilink Vehicle Passes with extra savings for Blue Badge holders.

Vehicle size upgrades

If you have a Multilink Vehicle Pass but need to travel in a longer or taller vehicle, you can now upgrade single journeys with an oversize supplement.

This could apply if you’re carrying bikes or a roofbox or simply travelling in a larger vehicle than your usual one.

Instead of buying a new ticket, you can now simply pay an upgrade to cover the difference.

How it works

Start to book your travel online as normal using your Multilink pass
Select the correct size for the vehicle you’re travelling with
At the payment stage, we’ll use your Multilink journey towards the cost
Once your Pass has been used, you’ll then be prompted to pay a small supplement to cover the difference

The supplement is based on how much longer or taller your vehicle is compared to your pass. Expand the table below to see the full breakdown of supplement costs.

If you require both a height and length upgrade at the same time, this is possible. You’ll be charged the sum of both supplements.

Vehicle bookings made on our Portsmouth – Fishbourne route will be subject to a new Government Emissions Trading Scheme levy. This includes bookings made with a Multilink Pass.

Things you should know

Valid for 12 months from the date of purchase or top up
Up to seven passengers (including the driver) may travel in the same vehicle. Up to two passengers (including the rider) may travel on the same motorcycle.
Your Multilink Vehicle Pass is valid if you’re travelling in the vehicle, you don’t have to be the driver
You can register a second and third passenger on a Multilink Vehicle Pass if they live at your address. Second and third named passholders do not have their own account, however, and will have to use the main passholder's account to make bookings.
On average over 30% of Wightlink’s total capacity is available for Multilink tickets, and the minimum we will always offer on any sailing for Multilink is 15% of capacity. The highest level of customer demand is between 10:00 and 16:00 each day, particularly on a Friday, Saturday and Monday exiting the mainland and Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday exiting the Island. So, we would advise Multilink customers to also check availability outside of these times.

How to buy a Multilink Vehicle Pass

You can buy your Multilink Vehicle Pass online. Follow the link below and choose your pass – you’ll need to upload proof of your Isle of Wight residency using our online form.

Please provide a scanned or photographed driving license, utility bill, or council tax bill in your name showing an Isle of Wight address.

You can then download your pass onto the Wightlink app. If you want a paper ticket, contact us with the pass number and we’ll send you one.

When you travel, you may be asked to provide ID – a photo driving licence, passport or HM Forces ID card is acceptable.

How to top up your Multilink Vehicle Pass

If you’d like to top up an existing pass with the same number of journeys that you previously purchased – 20 singles, for example – then you don’t need a new Multilink Pass. You can top it up online in the ‘Your account’ section and through the Wightlink app.

Unfortunately, once you’ve purchased a Multilink Vehicle Pass, it cannot be upgraded to a different number of journeys. For example, a pass of 20 may only be topped up with another pass of 20. To get a different level of journeys, you’ll need to purchase a new pass.

On average, over 30% of Wightlink’s total capacity is available for Multilink Vehicle tickets and the minimum we will always offer on any sailing is 15% of capacity.

Qualifying purchases

Purchases of the following frequent travel passes will qualify for friends and family discount codes:
- Multilink Vehicle 20 Pass purchases will trigger two 25% discount codes
- Multilink Vehicle 40 Pass purchases will trigger three 25% discount codes
- Multilink Vehicle 60 Pass purchases will trigger three 33% discount codes
- 90 Day Season Ticket purchases will trigger two 25% discount codes
- 180 Day Season Ticket purchases will trigger three 25% discount codes
- Annual Season Ticket purchases will trigger three 33% discount codes
The account connected to the purchase must have a valid email address in order to deliver the codes
Codes will be sent via email within 10 working days of purchase.

Code redemption

These are one-time use promotion codes which can only be redeemed online.
Valid for bookings made and travel taken up to 3 January 2027, with the following travel date exclusions:
- 2 April – 10 April 2026
- 1 May – 4 May 2026
- 22 May – 25 May 2026
- 18 June – 22 June 2026
- 28 August – 31 August 2026
Promotion codes are valid on vehicle and foot travel from the mainland to the Isle of Wight only
Each Promotion Code can only be used once and only one Promotion Code can be used per booking. Please do not test the Promotion Code as once used, you will not be able to use it again, even if the booking is not confirmed. The Promotion Code will not be replaced. Payment must be made at the time of booking.
If you are copying and pasting the code into the box, please be careful not to include a space at the end of the code as the system will not recognise it. Also, be careful with the numbers 0, 1, 2, 5 as they look similar to the letters O, I, Z, S.
How to book: Copy the Promotion Code to use in the ‘I have a Promotion Code’ box at the bottom of the ‘Your Details’ stage when making your booking online. The discount will be shown at the payment stage of your booking.
If using a mobile device, make sure you scroll right to the bottom of Stage 3 (Journey Extras) of the booking process as this is where the ‘I have a Promotion Code’ is located.
Please note cancellation and amendment fees apply depending on the ticket type booked. More details can be found here: wightlink.co.uk/policies/product-rules.
Standard Tickets offer you the most flexibility. They are free to amend online, over the phone and at our ports. They are also refundable with just a £5 fee if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your outward sailing.
Promotion Code cannot be used against Season Tickets, Multilink Passes, attraction and festival tickets, any other promotional offers including Tesco Clubcard Reward Partner Codes, already discounted fares, B2B (Business to Business) bookings, groups of 10 or more foot passengers, minibuses, coaches, commercial / freight vehicles over 5.0m in length, or for any other journey that cannot be booked online.
